Technical Information
From childhood, I have used a variety of cameras, formats, films, papers, and chemistry. When I first had the luxury to devote myself seriously to photography starting in 1995, I focused exclusively on large format black and white photography. For that period my tools and techniques were these: I used a Linhof Master Technika 4 x 5” camera and an 8 x 10" Canham field camera and employed a variety of Schneider, Rodenstock and Nikkor lenses to shoot Tmax films. I metered with a Pentax digital spotmeter, and Gitzo tripods. I processed these films in a Jobo CPA processor using Tmax RS developer diluted 1:9 or the PMK pyro developer formula. I use a custombuilt 8 x 10" enlarger manufactured to my specification by Condit, and I printed primarily on Kodak Polymax Fine Art paper.
Today I have succumbed to the allure of digital photography. I shoot with a Canon Eos 1ds Mark II and a 5d Mark II and frequently use Canon’s variety of tilt-shift lenses, along with a full range of zoom lenses. For processing, I use Lightroom and Photoshop. I print on an Epson Stylus Pro 7900 using mainly Epson papers.
